Conservation Conversations—Wildlife and Recreation in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem
Date: Thursday, May 14 Time: 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Join the Greater Yellowstone Coalition Thursday, May 14 for an evening with author Hillary Rosner exploring recreation, land development, and wildlife in Teton Valley and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem is defined by rugged peaks, sweeping valleys, dense forests, and free-flowing rivers—an extraordinary landscape that supports iconic wildlife and world-class outdoor recreation. It is one of the last remaining large, intact ecosystems on Earth.
GYC is pleased to host Hillary Rosner, author of Roam: Wild Animals and the Race to Repair Our Fractured World. Rosner’s work examines how land fragmentation disrupts wildlife migration and highlights solutions that reconnect landscapes and strengthen climate resilience. In this presentation, she will explore how these challenges and opportunities are unfolding in Teton Valley.
Don Carpenter from Backcountry Hunters & Anglers will kick off the conversation by sharing his stories of exploration and adventure in Greater Yellowstone. Following the talk, join a panel discussion featuring Rosner and regional experts, including Taylor Ganz of The Nature Conservancy, Matt Pieron of Idaho Fish and Game, Dan Verbeten of Teton Trails and Pathways, and Monica Zimmerman of the Bureau of Land Management. The conversation will be moderated by Tom Hallberg, GYC’s Idaho Conservation Associate.
Enjoy a drink from Highpoint Cider and be part of an engaging conversation about the future of this remarkable region.

PAWS: Supporting Pets and People in Our Community
For more than 25 years, PAWS has provided critical support to pets and families across our local communities. Today, we operate the Teton Valley, ID animal shelter for homeless and stray pets while delivering vital services that help families facing financial or personal hardship.
At PAWS, we’ve always known that when an animal is suffering, there’s often a person on the other end of the leash who needs help, too. That’s why our mission serves both ends of the leash — through programs that keep pets with the families who love them and, when needed, provide safe shelter and adoption services for animals who must be rehomed.
